Blu Jaz Jam on 3 Oct 07
Category: Music
It was a lovely FAMILY day during our last jam on 3rd Oct 07. Rightfully, it should be called the "Soliano-Nonis-Rozario & Friends Family Jam".
Backed by an all-star line-up, flanked by legendary icons in Uncle Rufi and promising stars like Jeremy, it has once again lived up to its name of "good & healthy family entertainment".
From breath-taking solos, perfect synergy, tasteful harmonization, effortless mastery to deep searching moments, it was a music master class that celebrated the gifts of music we share and the love & respect we shared with the different ones who took the stage at different moments. The beer was great but the fellowship was AWESOME!
I am so blessed to have the following to share the stage with us:
"Datok Tan Sri" Mervyn (keys), Dr Sean P. Rozario (keys/vox), Master Dudley Nonis (keys), Master "inversion conversion" Ravi (Keys), Mr "Overseas Guest" Sammin (keys), David "Prince of Funk" Ng (bass), Regi "hold the fort for the night aka secret weapon" (bass/vox), Master Richard Khan (drums), Mr "EB prodigy" Jeremy (drums), "Poster Boy" George (drums), Jeff "The Entertainer" Rozario (guitar/vox) & the Rozario Family Band (drums & vox), Daniel "Deep Blue" Wilson (guit), Master Steven Rufus "one of the finest saxophonists in the land" (tenor sax), Dr "Screaming Notes" Chay (trumpet), Uncle Rufi "Singapore's Duke Ellington - Singapore's pride and joy, the star of the night" Soliano, Ms "Awesome" Anabel (flute), Ms "Marvellous - what a bomb!" Michelle Soliano (vox & dance), Ms "Smooth Operator" Yang and a certain saxophonist whom I shalt not name ... ...
I will like to openly express my apologies to my music friends who came but had to leave before jamming. My thousand apologies to Master "Smokey" and the audience who have missed the finest blues harpist/singer in town and bro, I owe you one drink!!! For the other friends who had to leave before given a chance to jam, my apologies - your next drink will be on me during the next jam!
I will also like to thank all the families and friends who came to share the jam with us. Your endless cheering, applause, shouting, dancing & clapping have inspired us to push the musical boundaries on stage. Without you, it will not have been possible to achieve such a "satisfying" night.
I will like to thank Leonard for being so kind and supportive to help us with the sound.
I will like to thank George & Jeff for their posters, pictures and all the publicity work that they have done.
I will like to thank the video & camera team who helped to capture the moments during the jam.
I will like to thank Aileen & Blu Jaz Cafe for allowing us to be ourselves and making a total mess of the place again and again.
I will like to thank God for the friendship, the brotherhood & the gift of music that we share. Many of you folks can be easily playing somewhere, spending time at home with your loved ones, making good money and yet, you chose to take the time and effort to come together for fellowship & music. I am thankful and honored to have shared the stage with all of you. All Glory to Him who watches over us by day, by night, through the ups and downs, valleys and mountains of life.
I pray that God will continue to bless each one of us richly with His heavenly blessings, rendering good health, love, joy & peace to everyone and the households represented.
I am left totally humbled when (my mentor) Boon Chye called us @ 12.30am to ask whether can he still make it for the jam after finishing his gig. Hey, this jam meant something to Boon Chye and I am glad to be part of it all. Boon Chye, I salute you!
I am looking forward to the next jam and I know that it can only be better. Keep the brotherhood and music alive.
God bless and see you all in Nov 2007.
